The fuck is this? Well, it’s creative as hell, is what it is. I’ve rewritten my assessment of its genre three times now, so I’m just going to leave it. Suffice it to say that all the tags for it are correct to varying degrees.
The whole thing basically starts with a sort of semi-melodic sense of black metal and devolves from there, but then you get powerchord/D-beat “breaks” and three-note-bashing phrases that recall early primal BM in Bathory’s style; it’ll roar from something approximating crust into eerie minor chords without so much as a stop-and-start, with transitions so unbelievably fluid you don’t even notice the shift of styles most of the time. Riffs all over the place, big sweeping chords, aggressive breaks, and early-Disfear-esque vocals, and I am extremely fucking impressed.
Where the hell did this even come from? Seriously, with just seven tracks these guys made it into my favourites. Can’t wait for newer releases.
